Hair Color Correction

Hair Color Correction is a tricky business and Nicole Hudson recommends it only be attempted by an experienced professional hair color specialist.  It is not as simple as covering the old color with the color desired as strength of the new color must be altered to take into consideration the changes that will ensue when mixed with the old.  In the case where bleaches or other aggressive chemicals have been used in coloring the hair, long term damage to hair can be caused if using the wrong types of coloring agents.

Nicole Hudson has been using a range of tints, colors and agents to correct coloring for clients at her Cronulla salons for over 25 years.  She is a specialist that guarantees the best result possible for your color corrections.

What Is Involved In Hair Color Correction

Color Correction is a service created to correct hair color. You want a color refresh, a type change, back to your natural hair color or does the final color you have match your ideal? Then Color Correction is required for you!

Color correction may be necessary if …

… for example, if the color result appears to be different than desired by the use of third party tints or agents, the last hairdresser you visited did not give you the result desired or the sun and saltwater faded the coloration.

Imagine a situation where you wanted your hair dyed burgundy (maybe) and it turns out that it has been a disaster after you look in the mirror.  What a disaster and embarrassment for you. But do not worry, that’s not the end of your story. You can still get hair color correction and get the look you wanted at best or at worst a hair color that you can live with.  If the coloring is of the permanent kind it may be difficult to get exactly what you want but Nicole Hudson will consult with you to let you know what can be achieved.

Once again color correction is difficult and many hairdressers will not even attempt it but with her many years of experience internationally trained and celebrity hairdresser Nicole Hudson is there to give you the best results.  It is advisable not to attempt correction of your hair color on your own – but here are some of the steps to doing it –

How to correct hair color?

Before we go to correct the hair color, here’s a quick you of the things needed in the process. You would need a good shampoo, conditioner, semi-permanent hair color, and hair highlighting kit.  Nicole Hudson uses Olaplex and Bhave and her own bespoke range of range of high-quality, organic hair products with various colors  and treatments to ensure that you get as close to perfect colour correction the first time.

To begin with, the first thing you could probably do if attempting to do this at home is to use baking soda to wash your hair, provided that you have to correct the hair because of it being too dark or bright.

Nicole Hudson uses her own organic yoghurt based cleanser to ensure your hair is minimally impacted.

Make a solution of equal height from baking soda and water with shampoo. Then after leaving it for about 10 minutes, rinse with a portion of baking soda and two parts of hot water at a tolerable temperature. This is a very common and popular remedy that has been approved by the salons as well as fade to color the hair.

If this is too difficult then what you can do is use a good shampoo with conditioner and good dandruff protection. Wash your hair more than once while keeping the shampoo for a few minutes before rinsing your hair for a good result.

Now in the situation where you have tried both solutions, and your desperation, still, to deal with the dreadful color, do not think twice, go to Nicole Hudson for a hair color correction consultation.

It is impossible to bring back bleached hair using the method above and long-term damage can be caused to your hair in attempting to do so.  It is recommended to consult with a hair specialist but if you insist on trying to remedy the color at home using natural tinting agents like black tea, cocoa or coffee would be the safest.  Mix the agent with natural yoghurt and make a thick paste. Mix it with your shampoo and apply it evenly. Let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse. Do this at least three times or until the desired darkening is achieved.

Here is an illustration of how to soften a deeper and darker color.

modern professional hair dressers

Apply light ash blonde to lighten or soften a bright or deep reddish. Served with a mousse that will be beneficial to the purpose of eliminating the tinny reds. Another thing you can do is, if you want a lighter shade, then apply extra virgin olive oil hot or any other hot oil treatment you want. For chemical coloring, heat is the best way to get rid of them. If you feel that the hair is too bright for your taste, just darken the color with the help of a semi-permanent color. But keep in mind that the semi-permanent color should be at least two shades darker than the original.

Hair color correction is a fine art especially with red and other darker hues. If you want funky colors other than your natural hair color you can always go for hair colors but remember to take all the necessary hair care precautions.

For best output during color correction, Nicole Hudson Hair Color Correction Specialist does the best.
